Vicki L Wertz's Obituary
Vicki L. Wertz, 72, of Palm Coast, FL. passed away on December 30, 2024. Born in Reading PA she was the daughter of the late George Wertz, Jr and Jane (Becker) Wertz.
Vicki enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 31, 1974, as a Navel Photographer’s Mate Second Class. She served as Aircrew for Anti-Submarine Warfare Squadron VX-I. Vicki received an Honorable Discharge from active duty on November 2, 1981. She immediately joined the Navel Reserves serving as Squadron Photographer for VP-68, Blackhawks, P-3 Orion Anti-Submarine and Maritime Surveillance Aircraft. She was Honorably Discharged from the Navy Reserves on November 3, 1986.
In 1991 Vicki purchased a beautiful 1700 stone farmhouse with 7 acres of land and opened a Bed & Breakfast called Brownstone Corner Bed & Breakfast. She operated this business with her mother until 1997.
After moving to Maryland Vicki worked for Anne Arundel Detention Center after receiving her master’s degree in Counseling and Physiology from Bowie State. She retired as a Correctional Program Specialist II and moved to Calabash, NC and later moved to Palm Coast, FL in 2021.
She recently completed and was sworn in as C.O.P. on November 19, 2024, to embark on her solo career with the Flagler County Sheriffs Office.
When Vicki wasn’t tinkering around the house, she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and cats. She loved watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Army/Navy football games. In her free time, Vicki could be found camping, exercising, raising butterflies and relaxing in her pool. She will be remembered as someone who loved the Lord and blessed others with her many talents in art and woodworking.
Vicki is survived by two brothers, Scott L. Wertz of Mohnton, PA, George (Debra) L. Wertz III of Denver, PA, a sister Tracy (Steven) Gerhart of West Lawn, PA, and best friends Penny Markulis of Palm Coast, FL and Robin Goldinger of Palm Coast, FL. Nephews, Joey Wertz, Dyer AR, Taylor (Katelyn) Gerhart, Denver, PA, and Harrison Gerhart, Myrtle Beach, SC. Nieces, Mandi (Joseph) Saunders, Dyer, AR, Emma Gerhart fiancée of Connor Basilici, Wayne, PA and Angela Brackin, Ephrata, PA.

Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at The Rock Transformation Center, 2200 N. State St., Bunnell, FL 32110. With reception to follow services.
