Victor M. Villarejos Jr.'s Obituary
Victor M. Villarejos, Jr., 74, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on October 16th, 2020 at his home.
Victor was born in La Paz, Bolivia and came to New Orleans, Louisiana when he was twelve years old. Victor graduated from Cor Jesu High School in New Orleans in 1963. Victor was active in the Lee Circle YMCA activities which included gymnastics, Judo, swimming, diving, and Leaders Club. After graduating from high school, Victor attended LSUNO, was active in Student Government, and was one of the founders of the LSUNO soccer team.
Emilie and Victor married in 1968, moved to Baton Rouge, where Victor graduated from LSU in 1970. Victor and Emilie then moved to Miami, Florida where he was employed with the Miami/Dade YMCA as a physical director. Victor and Emilie then moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he was a physical director until he moved to work with the YMCA in Florence, Kentucky. After working many years with the YMCA, Victor changed careers and became a Respiratory Therapist with Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Victor then attended nursing school at Good Samaritan Hospital and became a Registered Nurse serving in rehab units and as a liaison with the hospital and hospice services.
Victor enjoyed his retirement in Florida by keeping busy with grandchildren, walking his wire-haired fox terrier, Annabelle, gardening, and volunteering on Flagler/Volusia Turtle Patrol. He and Emilie enjoyed traveling, cruising, and socializing with friends and neighbors.
Victor was preceded in death by his mother, Gerti Winkler Villarejos, his father, Dr. Victor M. Villarejos, his sister, Rosi Forment, his brother, Francisco Villarejos, and son, Luis Villarejos.
Victor is survived by his wife of 52 years, Emilie Lecler Villarejos, daughter Denise Norfolk (Donald), grandchildren Caitlyn Norfolk, Christian Norfolk, and Shaeda Villarejos. He is also survived by his brother Miguel O. Villarejos (Yira), nieces Yvette Gerdes, Nicole Forment, Angelika Villarejos, Christine Bowles, and Monica Villarejos Kindt; nephews Francisco Villarejos, and Michael Villarejos. Also survived by sisters-in-law Jeanne Lecler Honganen (Cary) and Cynthia Lecler Olivier (Errol), nieces Ellen Honganen (his god child), Leslie Olivier Nielsen, and nephew Stephen Olivier.
