Dr. W. Paul Eckstein DDS's Obituary
Dr. Paul Eckstein, 91, of Flagler Beach, Florida, formerly of Middlesex Township, passed away on September 27, 2021. Dr. Eckstein led an interesting life. He was born in Canonsburg, PA, delivered by his uncle.
Paul grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated as valedictorian from Peabody
High School and went on to the University of Pittsburgh and Pitt Dental School. While at Pitt, Paul met and married his beloved wife, Janet Sopher. Paul joined the Navy after dental school and served as a Navy dentist. He continued his career in the Reserves, rising to the rank of
Commander.
After the service, Dr. Eckstein set up a dental practice in Middlesex Township where he worked and lived for 40 years. After selling his practice, he and Janet moved to Florida. He once again took up dentistry in a group practice in Palm Coast, finally retiring in 2002.
Paul was active in the community both in PA and in Florida. He served as an elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown and later at Trinity Presbyterian Church of Palm Coast. In Florida, he served as a docent at St. Augustine Lighthouse and was a member of the North
Atlantic Right Whale Project. Paul also became involved with Golden Retriever Rescue and was still doing phone screens up until the time of his death.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Janet. He leaves behind to cherish his memory and follow his legacy his children: Donna (Ray) Dallatore of Valencia; Susan (Gene) Morrison of Charleston, SC; Karla (Tim) Schwadron of Central City, PA; and Dr. Paul (Dr. Nga) Eckstein of Seminole, FL. His grandchildren are Dr. Daniel (Dr. Abbie) Dallatore, Benjamin (Ana) Dallatore, Teresa (Joshua) Calhoun, Erica (Russ) Newhaas, Brandon (Rachel) Morrison, Kimberly Schwadron, Edward Schwadron, Dalton Eckstein, and Kara Eckstein. He had several great grandchildren, Sophia Dallatore and Brooks Morrison.
