Wayne A. Rumsey's Obituary
Wayne Arthur Rumsey, 80, passed away on March 2, 2021 at home with his family by his side.
Wayne was born on August 18, 1940 in Passaic County, NJ to the late Irving and Ada Rumsey. He was the youngest of three children and pre-deceased by his brother and sister, Edward (Eddie) and Anna (Annie Polo).
He lived in Pompton Lakes, NJ and graduated high school at the age of 16. He then attended the State University of New York located in Long Island. Wayne was a surveyor for two years before he became a civil engineer for the Department of Transportation in the state of NJ for 40+ years.
Wayne lived in Sussex County, NJ in his adult life. Throughout his wonderful years, he became a husband, father, step-father, grandfather and even a great-grandfather. He eventually made his way down to Flagler Beach, FL to spend the rest of his days.
He was loved by many and enjoyed his fishing trips, softball, basketball, swimming, bike riding, the shooting range and watching the news with a good cup of coffee. We all know he probably loved animals more than people too!
He passed after a short battle with cancer and is survived by his wife, Patricia Rumsey. His children Chris Rumsey, Robin Barnhart-Klein (Son in law George Klein), Ryan Rumsey (Daughter in law Kelley Rudd), and Janel St. Croix (son in law Clive St. Croix). Step-children, Brian Youakim, Jackie Cason (son in law Milton Cason) and Jason Youakim. Grandkids, Carl (wife Melissa), Kyle, Jessica, Connor, Jacob, Davonte, Theresa (husband Chris) and Asher. Great grandkids, Lindsey, Luke, Sarah and Lauren. As well as, his best friend since elementary school, Richard Morey, and many other family members and friends.
Wayne will be missed and remembered for his witty, sarcastic, jokester personality. Not counting sneaking candy bars when he was not supposed to be eating them. So, we will remember the good times and the great man that gave us so many wonderful memories. Until we meet again
At this time, a memorial service will be planned for the future at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Wayne’s name to the Flagler Humane Society.
