William "Bill" Browne's Obituary
William “Bill” Darrell Browne
May 30, 1940 – July 7, 2025
William “Bill” Darrell Browne, 85, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Palm Coast, Florida, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 30, 1940, Bill was the son of William and Hazel Brown. He grew up with his siblings Judith Brown Molitor, Pamela Browne Jacobus, and his late brother, Timothy Brown. You may notice an occasional “e” at the end of Browne—don’t ask why. We don’t know either. He remained a loyal fan of his hometown teams—the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and Michigan Wolverines—through every win and loss.
Bill served in the U.S. Armed Forces, where he met the love of his life, Connie, while stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was on the dance floor that his smooth moves won her heart and began their lifelong love story. Together, they raised three sons: Dan, Robert (Bobby), and Richard (Ricky), as well as Susan Belen, all of whom he cherished deeply. Ricky and Susan preceded him in death.
In 1978, Bill moved his family from Greenville, Michigan, to Clermont, Florida, where he embraced sunny days, family life, and time on the water—especially waterskiing.
He was a proud grandfather to Suzanne Reynolds, Danielle Scafidi, Richard Browne, Scott Browne, Lauren Johnston, Nathan Bennett, and Jack Bennett, and a joyful great-grandfather to six. His daughter-in-law, Teresa Browne, held a special place in his heart.
Bill welcomed everyone with open arms. His home was always full—of people, music, laughter, and love. He enjoyed playing guitar, golfing, traveling with Connie, and making memories with his family.
Above all, Bill was a man of deep Catholic faith. It was his quiet source of strength and the foundation of the compassionate, generous life he lived.
He is survived by his wife Connie, sons Dan and Bobby, daughter-in-law Teresa, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters Judith and Pamela, and many beloved extended family members and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,
4001 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL 32804.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s beautiful life.
