William Harry Mc Liverty's Obituary
William Harry "Bill" McLiverty, 90, of Palm Coast, FL passed away December 17, 2023 at Brookdale Health and Rehabilitation Center. William was born on May 8, 1933 in Manhattan, New York to the late Osbourne and Anna (Haba) McLiverty.
William graduated from George Washington High School in Manhattan, in 1952. William proudly served in the US Navy 1952-1956. He was a mechanic in the Navy Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees. He served at various domestic naval bases, as well as Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
After a brief time working at IBM, William applied for and was accepted into the New York Police Department (NYPD) Academy, graduating in late 1957. That same year, he was named NYPD Rookie of the Year, due to his efforts to stop an armed robbery in process, while on a plainclothes stake-out of a liquor store in Manhattan. William continued to serve with the NYPD from 1958 to 1978, first at the 34 Precinct in Manhattan, and then at the 50 Precinct in the Bronx. While working full-time for the NYPD, William attended night classes, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Iona College, New Rochelle, NY, in 1976.
In 1978, William relocated to Palm Coast, and was the first probation officer in Flagler County. He served in that capacity from 1978 until 2003.
In retirement, William enjoyed many long road trips all over the country, visiting friends and family from coast to coast. He was also a member of the Knight of Columbus and the local chapter of the NYPD Benevolent Association.
William is preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Campanaro) McLiverty; Brothers Joseph, Cyrus, Osbourne, John, Norman, and Charles; Sister Dina; Son, William Bruce McLiverty; and Grandson, Adam Prickett.
William is survived by Brother Richard (Helen) McLiverty, and Sisters Ann Manula, Irene Froehlich, and Nancy Wagner; Sister-in-Law Margaret McLiverty; Children Alan (Kathi) McLiverty, Michele (Dan) Campanaro-Prickett, Dino Campanaro (Nicole), Richard (Renee) Campanaro, and Anthony Campanaro; Daughter-In-Law Kristen McLiverty; and grandchildren Justin, Kristin, Kaylin, and Kyle McLiverty; Thomas, Matthew (Jennifer), Taylor and Gabrielle Prickett: Nicole, RaeAnn, Michael Campanaro (Stephanie): Nikki, Roxann, Santino, Anthony, Alexis Campanaro: Dante Campanaro. William is also survived by numerous great grandchildren Erin, Charli, Easton, Adam, Austin Prickett; & Olivia Campannaro. Nieces, nephews, and other family members, too numerous to list here.
A Gathering will begin at 10am followed by a Memorial Mass at 11am to celebrate William's life for those wishing to offer their condolences, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Fl 32164.
