Both Jerry and enjoyed playing (usually as an opponent) with Bill at the Palm Coast bridge club. He and Pete Monachese were tough opponents and most often beat us. But they were always pleasant and fun. Bill will be missed at our club -- he was one of the "good guys."
BIll was a true delight in our bridge club. He always had a friendly smile for everyone and Warren and I always looked forward to playing with him and Pete. Bill mentioned one time that he had worked with a Ron Kroeker in Oregon and it turned out that he had worked with Warren's brother. On one occasion I was out of town and could not take Warren to an eye appointment in Daytona. BIll graciously agreed to drive many miles out of his way to get Warren back and forth to Daytona, saying that is what friends are for. He will be greatly missed and I will think of him each time I do a Sudoku.

When we joined the Palm Coast Bridge Club December 2017 and "graduated to the "big kids' room we played East-West and thus would play against Bill and Peter. We told them many tines we enjoyed the rivalry. They were true gentlemen. We later moved to North-South to avoid the physical challenge of having to move from one table to the next. The down side was not ever being able to play against Bill and Peter! Gary and Doris Brumback.
A true gentleman who will be missed by all of us who knew him. A friendly smile and kind words were always at the ready.
There was something special about Bill. In his quiet, gentle way it was easy to feel he was a friend as well as fellow bridge player. He will be missed. Thank you for sharing his well-written obituary with us.

Bill and I were bridge partners for a few months. Aside from his kindness while we played he also demonstrated that he was a gentleman. After one time we played, I had a deflated tire issue and he followed me from the club to my home to make sure I was safe. Bill will be sorely missed.
