Barbara Alayne Arenberg
Barbara Alayne Arenberg of Flagler Beach, Florida was born on August 30, 1935 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late William and Violet Watkins. Barbara passed away peacefully on December 5, 2012 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, Palm Coast, Florida, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 5 days.
Barbara moved to South Florida as a child, graduated from Miami Edison High School and attended the University of Miami. Barbara enjoyed being a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha social sorority and the Gamma Alpha Chi women’s advertising fraternity.
Barbara then met the love of her life, William W. Arenberg, and on a beautiful Sunday in November they were united in a double ring ceremony in the Miami Shores Baptist Church. William and Barbara had an incredible marriage that lasted 56 years. They were blessed with four children – two girls and two boys.
Barbara was a member of the PTA, helped on school outings, was a den mother to Cub Scout Den #7, Pack #42 of North Miami and a member of the local Women’s Club. Barbara went back to school after her children were grown and graduated from Miami Dade College. Her favorite subject was the seashore and its surroundings. This was also the place of her first date with her future husband and they enjoyed many glorious years by the shore when they retired to Flagler Beach. Like two peas in a pod, they were inseparable until the love of her life passed in 2010. They are now once again together and beyond the sunset forever more.
Barbara was an exceptional homemaker and a caring, giving friend to all. Through the years Alayne rescued many pets including her beloved kitty’s – Fuzzy, Blackie, and Cloe. Barbara enjoyed gardening and loved raising roses in the yard and gardenias on the patio. Barbara, above all, was an excellent mother first and foremost, never missing an opportunity to express her love. Barbara will be remembered for the love of family and friends, her ability to recall and tell a story in meticulous detail and her tireless, spirited determination along with her wonderful laugh and beautifully sparkling blue eyes.
