Hi Dad,
My final memory with you is walking over to the pond near your place on the morning of the day when we would say goodbye for the final time, August 8, 2024.
We had been talking about tossing a line into the water for the entire three weeks I was there, but we somehow never managed to get there. Finally, we made it happen on that final morning.
It was already very hot, by our standards, but you’d given several determined attempts before we’d both decided to call it quits and head back inside.
Although we came up empty at the pond, that moment has served to fulfill me ever since, especially now that you’ve passed on.
I miss you and love you dearly, dad, and would love the opportunity to relive that moment again.
I will have to settle for the photos and the vivid memory that will be forever etched into my soul.
Love always,
Paul
