James W. Miers' Obituary
James W. Miers, 85, passed away under hospice care, in Fleming Island, FL on December 16, 2019. James was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from J W Sexton Highschool in 1952. James served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War.
Jim worked in sales most of his life. Jim was a man of deep faith, who loved attending church and rarely missed a Sunday. Jim was an avid sports fan who especially loved watching the Michigan State Spartans. He coached Pop Warner for many years and loved watching any sport played by his children or grandchildren. He was their biggest fan.
In his later years, Jim lived with his beloved golden retriever Buddy at Allegro in Fleming Island. He made many friends there and did not know a stranger. He always had a smile and a witty comment for everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharlene in 2017, His parents, Harold Miers and Ruth (Donner) Miers, and his sister Doreen Newson.
Jim is survived by his children Steve Wilson (Sandy), Brian Wilson (Cindy), Michele Spradlin (Evan) and Becky Miers, and six grandchildren and one great grandson whom he loved dearly. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him, but we take comfort knowing he is resting in the arms of his Savior and reunited with his beloved wife.
A graveside service will take place at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on January 3, 2019 at 11:00am.
