Jack and Sherry were our next door neighbors when they lived in Plantation. So many memories came flooding back of our time in Majestic View. We were so blessed in those years - good friends, good laughs, and Jack was someone you knew you could count on. I am so sorry to just learn of his passing. My heartfelt sympathy to Sherry, Alyssa, Kelsey, and the entire Gilbert family.
Jack was one terrific person. When I went to Western Carolina University to play basketball, Jack took me under his wing and made me feel very welcome. He treated me as if I were some All American. I only played my freshman season with Jack as he graduated. He was so kind. We lost touch but my wife and I moved to Florida and I discovered I lived right down the street from him in Palm Coast. We had about an hour conversation on the phone and planned to get together after he recovered from eye surgery. I can't begin to explain what an impact Jack had on my life. My thoughts are with his family. I know without a doubt Jack will be missed by all who knew him.
Jack was my college roommate at Western Carolina University. He was also a great basketball player for the Catamounts. After college we went our separate ways but stayed in touch until his death. Jack and Sherry would meet with my wife (deceased) and friend Fred Wall for the Purple and Gold reunion almost every summer. I will miss him tremendously. I still talk to Sherry frequently.
I am so sorry for your immense loss. Jack was such a great guy. I have very fond memories from Norland Junior High. Jack was an amazing administrator and I was fortunate to have worked with him. I knew Jack from Parkway Junior High and we both went to Kinloch Junior High. He and Bob Fowler were a dynamic duo as administrators. You have my deepest condolences.

We were sorry to hear of Jack's passing. He was a great educator and man. He was kind and an inspirational leader to me during my time working at Norland Jr. High. We have much to thank him for, as he was the person who introduced us. 38 years later, we still remember the day he started us on this marriage journey through that introduction.
