John "Jack" Francis Gilbert's Obituary
Jack Gilbert, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 24, 2021 in Palm Coast, FL.
Born June 5, 1945 in Paterson, NJ to Edward and Rosella, Jack was a beloved husband of Sheryl "Sherry" Lunsford Gilbert of 49 years, loving father of Alyssa and Kelsey Gilbert, and brother of Edward "Ted" Gilbert and Patricia "Patti" Gilbert Okupski.
Jack was raised in Miami, graduated from Western North Carolina University, and worked as educator and superintendent for Miami Dade Schools. He and Sherry have spent the last 14 years living out their dream retirement in Palm Coast, where "every day was Saturday."
Jack was a high school and college basketball player, life-long tennis player, and movie buff. He always knew how to make someone laugh, and he was a friend to all.
