Julio Roman Basora's Obituary
With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Julio Sr. on the morning of February 14, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family, who cherished him deeply. Julio was born on June 22, 1941 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, and at the age of 17 bravely moved to New York City with only a few dollars in his pockets and a heart full of determination.
Through hard work and perseverance, he built a life of his own until he met the love of his life, Laura. Together they shared 59 beautiful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and generations of family. Their family grew to include their children Sandra, Laura, Marisabel, Julio Jr., Julio Enrique, Sheila, Sonny, and Barrington, along with twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Enoch, Abisai, Josue, and Maggie, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives he deeply touched.
Julio was a man who loved working with his hands. His first job was as a dental technician, where he brought smiles to countless clients. He remodeled his own homes, as well as the homes of family and friends, always keeping his body active and his mind sharp. He took great pride in helping others and creating spaces filled with warmth and care. Another great passion of Julio’s was boxing. He loved the sport and would proudly demonstrate his quick moves and steady stance, carrying that fighting spirit with him throughout his life.
In his free time, Julio found joy in cooking authentic dishes from his beloved island of Puerto Rico, bringing family together around the table with the comforting flavors of home. He was also known for his wonderful sense of humor. Julio loved to make others laugh and especially enjoyed playing pranks on those he loved—most notably on April Fool’s Day.
Julio’s legacy is one of strength, devotion, hard work, humor, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A funeral service will be held in honor of Julio on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Parkview Church located at 5435 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
