Mary Jo Lyon's Obituary
Mary "Jo" Lyon (Schumacher), 75, was unexpectedly called home to her heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 15 at her vacation home in Palm Coast, Florida. Jo was the third child of nine born July 10, 1946 in Seattle, Washington to the late Larry and Theresa Schumacher.
Jo is affectionately remembered by the love of her life, husband Butch of 55 years, her daughter Sara (Cale) Reese of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and her grandchildren Brody and Piper Reese. Jo is also lovingly remembered by five sisters and one brother, Rita Auer, Carol Tate, Patty (Bob) Webster, Judy McDarby, Kay-Kay Schumacher, and Tom (Ken) Schumacher. She is deeply missed by many special nieces, nephews, friends, and her husband's family. Jo is now reunited in heaven with her daughter Lori Kay, her parents, Larry and Theresa Schumacher, siblings Terry Schumacher and Nanci Watkins, and her in-laws Herb Auer, Ed McDarby and Gary Tate.
Jo was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She had a kind and unconditional loving heart that touched many lives of family and friends. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith and loved serving others. Jo enjoyed volunteering with the Alpena Baby Pantry. She was a talented seamstress and generously gave away her handmade sewn gifts. Jo loved camping, playing cards, and watching the Detroit Tigers. Everyone who knew her would say she made the world's best chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cake. Jo will be remembered for her love of her family, generosity, faith, and kindness.
A celebration of life service will be held on January 8, 2022 at First United Methodist Church, Alpena, Michigan. Visitation time with the family will start at 10:00am with the formal service at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow the service.
