Nannie Lou Delaney's Obituary
Nannie Lou Delaney, 96, passed away on May 4, 2020 with her son Ted Saunders and daughter-in-law Michele Saunders by her side.
Nannie was born August 10, 1923 in Romney, West Virginia. After high school she moved to Washington, DC where she met her first husband, Bernard Saunders. They had two sons, Ted and Randy Saunders. She eventually moved to Ft. Lauderdale before returning to Washington, DC with her two sons, as a single mother. Nannie had a long career with the Government Accounting Office and the National Air and Space Administration (NASA). After retiring, she and her second husband, William Parker, moved to Palm Coast, FL in 1977. They enjoyed a life of golf, travel, socializing with many wonderful friends and spending time with family. William Parker passed in 1986. Nannie married Raymond Delaney in 1988, and he passed away in 2007. They too enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family.
Nannie was an avid golfer until she was 89 years old. She was also a sports fan who followed golf and professional football. And she even went parasailing at age 92.
Nannie was proceeded in death by her son Randy Saunders, brother William Baird and three husbands. Nannie is survived by her brother George Baird, son Ted Saunders, stepson Robert Parker, stepdaughters, Susan Weisenborne, Jane Delaney-Bell, Betsy Delaney-Elwell, Susan Delaney-Shepherd, Sheila Delaney-Preston, grandsons Galen and Devon Saunders, great grandson Aidan Saunders, eleven step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
A celebration of Nannie’s life will be held at a future date.
