Linda and Dianne, I am at a loss for words at hearing the sad news. Bob and I worked together at AT&T for many years. He taught me a great deal, took me under his wing as the newbie and showed me how a true professional conducted themselves. He was always smiling, always had a good word to say and was the first to want to help if someone was in need. He will be missed by many people as he was loved by those whose lives he touched. He was a person I proudly called my friend and buddy. God bless you and keep you.

I was so sorry to hear of Bob's passing.... Having known this family since I was 15, I looked at Linda and Bob as my second parents and Dee as my sister...
I loved Bob's charisma, joyous personality and his hearty belly laugh. A good man through and through..

I just heard about Bob's passing this morning. I worked with Bob at AT&T and loved this wonderful man, who loved his wife, daughter and family so very much. He always had a smile on his face, and something funny or nice to say. I know he will be greatly missed. Linda, you and Diane are in my thoughts and prayers. I know heaven is more real because of having a loved one there. May God bless and comfort you as only He can.

We all who shared love with Robert will always remember him in the love we continue to share with one another. We are reminded that we are here and have what we have, in large part, because of the saints before us who lived lives of faith and who understood that a life of discipleship was a life of giving their best to make sure those who came after them would have a church and community of faith to be a part of, and a safe world with the resources to sustain them and all who come after them.

We are reminded that we are called to carry on their legacy with our own. We are reminded of the devotion and discipline needed in living a loving relationship with God and others. That means gathering around this altar regularly, hearing His word often, giving generously and serving faithfully. We are reminded of the promise of eternal life granted through the suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ;
“…the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God.” We are reminded because of the life Robert lived while he was with us.

Bobby and I lost touch through the years, but the illness and death of a mutual cousin in Atlanta in 2014 initiated a series of phone calls between us over the months. It was a particularly stressful time since family members didn’t always agree on decisions that needed to be made. But Bobby was truly the voice of reason throughout the entire ordeal with a calm, diplomatic perspective as he very gingerly imparted his sage advice in his Southern, genteel style, often with wit and humor. Particularly comforting to me was Bobby’s appreciation for the updates that he expressed at the end of each call. I’m sure this was just one example of the grateful attitude Bobby had throughout his life. At the top of his gratitude list - the blessing of his loving wife and daughter.

The picture I posted shows a young Bobby and Linda in the early years of their 55-year marriage. Couples starting out in life never know the trials they will face along the way. Bobby and Linda set a wonderful example to all who knew them of facing those obstacles together, through thick and thin, with God and family as their sold foundation.

Thoughts and prayers to Linda and Dianna as they transition to life without Bobby with them physically, but whose spiritual presence and influence will guide them the rest of their lives.

It was a pleasure to have worked with Bob as a security professional, and to have been his neighbor during retirement. Bob was the voice of calm among our golf group, which is probably why he made more long putts than the rest of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Bob Roper was a truly wonderful man. His eyes shown with pure love when he looked at his wife, Linda and their beautiful daughter, Dianna. Many people search a lifetime and never find love like this. He was devoted to them and spent his life loving them and cherishing them. I pray for their loss but am also thankful for every year, day and moment they had with this kind gentle spirit who I know is still watching over them with outstretched arms of love.
